Trains, Smiles, and a great time had by ALL!

When we first started thinking about what to do for Wade's birthday, we knew it had to involve trains!! We looked at a bunch of different options, but finally found a super cute train to rent and had the party at our house. We knew it was risky if it rained and Wade could be in a mood and not even get in the train. But all the stars aligned and we had the perfect day with plenty of sunshine and our little train boy was so excited about riding the train with all his cousins, friends, and neighbors. As soon as it pulled up in front of the house, he was in awe. He kept asking me in a whisper, "Wade's train?"

As soon as guests started arriving we loaded up for the first ride. I've never seen Wade smile so big. He rode in one car, then would switch to the next, all the while waving to everyone on the sidelines and saying "choo choo! ALL ABOARD! Bye! Hi! choo choo!"

Buie, Avery, & Charley poke their head out to say hello

Kim & Millie Kate (MK sporting her pink engineer hat)
The jumpy was set-up in the back. Hannah and Caroline taking the plunge down the slide...

Ball pit fun....Wade, Millie Kate, & Maggie (not sure when this happened? it must've been right after cake?)

Avery, Maggie, & Charley with mommies

Poppa, Ellis & Rowan
Engineer Beau, about to test his train driving skills...
Wade and Mason heckling the audience..."ALL ABOARD!"
Before everyone got there, Wade and I took a turn in the driver seat! The only time Wade got off the train was to eat and blow out the candles on his cake. I was prepared to bring the cake to him (rather than tear him of the train), but after an hour or so of riding, he came back into the station saying "Eat dinner! Eat dinner!"
Sharing his birthday lunch with Ellis and Colt...
Sweet Neely grabbing a bite to eat too...
The train cake and cupcakes...
"Happy Birthday to Wade!" (notice Hannah and Caroline lingering very close to the cake, they took the same position last year hoping to get the first pieces...)I didn't even realize Wade got any cake until Ragan sent me this picture. Come to find out, he had 2. I guess it's fitting, it was his 2nd birthday :)
Then it was back on the train for more fun!
Riding in the caboose with most of his favorite big boys Cae, Buie, Mason, Caleb, and Rowan (we're missing Wyatt!)

Even Ernie & Rosie (Beau's grandparents, Wade's middle name Myers is Rosie's maiden name) took a spin around the cul-de-sac
Did we really trust all of these precious lives with a driver that's not even watching the road???

Wyatt and Cae give a big "TOOT TOOT!" hoping to get the train going

Wade with his big boy Reuter cousins Wyatt, Cae & Caleb. Colt will be up there with them soon!
Meanwhile, Lauren was busy mowing the lawn! Don't worry Lauren, we'll have a girl cousin for you to play with VERY soon. You can dress her up, make her play school, and teach her all your girlie wisdom.
As you can imagine, this is only a small fraction of the pictures I have from the day. Nicci, Mandy, and Ragan were so sweet to share their photos with me too. And I'm so glad we have every smile documented. It truly was a wonderful day to celebrate with Wade and enjoy all the things that make him happy! Thanks to everyone for joining in the fun with us.

Birthday Dinner

We were lucky enough to get all of Wade's immediate in town family together for a big birthday dinner at Grandpa Enzo's house. Now that Shawn, Angie & boys live in Marietta, Wade has all of his Reuter cousins in town to play with...not to mention his Aunt Sheesha (which he has renamed Aunt "Cha Cha". Doesn't he know Sheesha is already a nickname?).

My dad's girlfriend, Diane, brought Wade these balloons. I think Colt was more excited about them than anyone :)

The basement is more of a man's playroom than a kid's, but all the boys (and girl!) had fun playing ping pong, pool, and getting buff on Enzo's equipment

Wade, Cae, & Wyatt
Wade giggling as Cae tried to give him kisses

Nonna & G.G. brought all the kids toys back from their recent trip to the Amazon
Then we feasted on steak, salad, Wade's favorite gnocci from Trader Joe's, veggie casserole, and watermelon!

What would a birthday party be without a cake?? Beau and I made this train out of rice crispie treats. I think my family (including myself right now!) is a little obsessed with rice crispie treats. It started because of Caleb's allergies to wheat, but has become a menu staple when we all get together
Wade was already tired at this point and was a little overwhelmed when everyone started singing to him. But he perked up when he saw the cake...
As soon as I put it in front of him, he stuck a rolo in his mouth. That made blowing out the candle very difficult, but he tried hard...

Then we opened a few presents with the help of all the cousins. Can you guess what type of stuff he got??? Train book, train puzzle, train tshirt....you get the picture....

Colt wants a piece of the action...
He hit his limit and didn't want anymore presents or attention. This is right about the time we started singing "It's my party, I can cry if I want to". He didn't like that either.
So we ended the evening with a group effort in putting his new puzzle together
What a day! Happy birthday sweet boy. We all love you so much and have been so blessed to share in your first 2 years of life. Now you have a week to rest up before the big train party to conclude the celebrations!!!

Birthday Morning @ Monkey Joe's!

As soon as Wade woke-up on his birthday, we were ready to celebrate his big number 2! I was ready to make him whatever fun breakfast he wanted, but all he wanted was his favorite cereal bar and play with play doh. The birthday boy gets what the birthday boy wants.

Then we headed out to Monkey Joe's for a little family jump time (just the 3 of us). Beau had been at a bachelor party all weekend and then ran the ING half marathon that morning, so he was exhausted, achy and sore. Everytime Beau tried to sit down, Wade just kept saying "DADDY JUMP! DADDY JUMP!!!" Sorry Daddy, birthday boy gets what the birthday boy wants. I just laughed on the sidelines and took pictures :)
