Baby Perkins Shower!

My good friend Polly is expecting a sweet little baby in September! We don't know if it's a boy or girl yet, so it will be a surprise to all!
(Polly's in the middle back row)

Bree and I were able to shower her with our favorite baby "must haves". Polly lives in Nashville so we don't get to see her as often as we'd like, so it was a special treat to spend the afternoon with Polly (and all her friends and family).

Love ya Polly Perkins!!

Happy Birthday Charley!

Wade's friend Charley turned 2 with a pool party at Atlanta Country Club. We were so excited to celebrate with her and have (yet another!) wonderful day at the pool....

Wade went to a few camp with Charley this summer and now can't stop talking about her. They're good buddies :)

The boys table (waiting patiently for their food!) Davis Marshall, Wade, Mason Crawford, Drew Marshall, and Buie Crawford

Fripp Island 2010

The last week of July we had my family's beach trip to Fripp Island, South Carolina. We weren't sure how long or if we were going to be able to make it this year, but everyone helped make it doable for Bree and me to be there. Thanks everyone!!!
We started off the week without Beau so I had to depend on a lot of help from my mom, sister, and the rest of the gang to entertain Wade in the heat and water. Poor Bree just couldn't take the scorching temps and I don't blame her, so we spent most of the week at the house. But I was so glad Wade was able to play with his cousins and have fun in the sun!

It is a week filled with bike rides, alligators spotting, golf cart adventures, swimming, sliding, sand castle building, movie watching, "Angry Bird" iphone playing, and lots of delicious meals and treats!
I am so blessed to have a family that loves each other and can actually stand to be in the same house for week without killing each other. Oh yeah, and the mojitos help too.
Nonna and G.G. truly enjoy having all the kids and family together

Bree got so much attention the whole week, I don't think she ever got put down. We had to got through "holding detox" when we were alone the next week. Sorry baby girl! Mommy can't hold you all day long, that's what aunts are for!

Here are some more pictures of our week...

Sleepover with Wyatt & Lauren

Super Aunt Michelle was very brave and treated Wade (and mommy!) to his first sleepover with his cousins. We had talked about it for weeks and finally found the right day. I have to admit I was very nervous. Not for Wade, but for Michelle. I just know how "particular" Wade can be and I hated putting that stress on her when she already had 2 little ones to chase after. But.....the sleepover was a success and he's even allowed to come back again!!! Here are the pictures Michelle texted me throughout the adventure. We met up at the pool to thoroughly wear them out. When it was time to leave, Wade went straight to "Wyatt's Car" and jumped right in, then waved goodbye to mom! Wade, Wyatt, & Lauren camped out on the floor all together to watch a movie. Michelle said she didn't even have to tell Wade what to do, because he just did everything Wyatt did. And if he started to misbehave, Wyatt would tell him to "lay down or mommy's going to turn off the movie". The next morning they had a playdate and lunch at Chic-Fil-A before coming home. It was a great break for me (Bree and I got to cuddle and sleep in!) and I can't wait to return the favor someday soon. I figure in about 2 years we can have the perfect double sleepover, Wade & Wyatt and Bree & Lauren!

Back to School Haircut

I took my chia pet son to get another real haircut. I have to trim it often and I must say I do a pretty good job. But then every few months I need to start from scratch and let a professional do it. Wade loves the kids' salon "Pigtails and Crewcuts". They have a train table, movies playing, fun chairs to sit in, and candy. If you can't make it through a haircut here, I doubt you will anywhere.

Somebody's Smiling!

Our little girl is brightening our days with her smiles! I've yet to have my camera handy when she's flashing her grins, so these are with my phone. I could stare at her happy grin all day long!!

Crazy Swimming Kid

Wade is a swimming fool!

It started with some group lessons back in March. At that point he refused to wear his flotation "backpack" and would climb out of the pool during the lesson. We got kicked out and had to find a smaller class that could handle his "independence". Eventually over the 10 week class he learned to love his backpack and quickly got better and better.

It's also helped that Poppa and Dede have had their pool heated since April and we've spent A LOT of time there swimming. Now lovely friends, family, or sitters have kept him busy at the pool at least once (and sometimes twice) a day.

He's down to 2 out of 4 floats on his back pack and is so close to being able swim on his own. He kicks and swims, comes up for air....but forgets to open his mouth and breath. Oh so close!

He's finally conquered his fear of the big diving board at Atlanta Country Club and now won't do anything else!

Hunter Wayne Calvert

Hunter Wayne
12:14pm
8lb 5oz
21 inches

The Calvert family welcomed their little boy at the end of June. Now this will make our second arranged marriage! Wade and Avery are 3 weeks apart and Bree and Hunter are 11 days apart. How's that for timing? I promise we didn't plan it, but did get a good laugh when we told each other we were pregnant!
I was able to meet Hunter in the hospital, but we got the families together for a triple date a few weeks later. Moms relaxed and sipped wine, babies slept, and the daddies entertained the toddlers and took them out for ice cream. Not a bad Friday night (in newborn world!)

We look forward to many more triple dates :)

Tripp Jones

Randolph Bryan Jones, III
"Tripp"
May 27, 2010
7 lb, 12oz
21.5 inches
My friend and college sorority sister, Kristin, had a precious baby boy exactly 3 weeks before Miss Bree. I was able to sneak away and hold him before Bree was born... Then we just got the kids together for a visit. I've never seen 2 babies so close in age, look so different. Tripp is long and lean like his parents, while Bree is....pleasantly plump. It's like putting a butterball turkey next to a slim jim. Here they must be practicing their singing...

BUSTED

Wade and I were in the car.
I hear a toot.
I look in the mirrror and see a huge grin on his face.
He says, "baby tooted".
I laugh and say, "Wade, Bree's not in the car".
He says, "Oh, Wade tooted. Excuse me".
